ARTICLE I: THE 1942 SWORD

Every PMA Class comes out with a yearbook or annual after graduation. That yearbook is popularly known as “The Sword”. The very first issue of The Sword to be published was by the Class of 1936. Typically found inside its covers would be photos of the members of the graduating class, their history, stories, anecdotes and a collage of pictures depicting the journey of the class throughout their years in the Academy.

However not all classes got the chance to take a peek or browse through their yearbook right after graduation. On December 13, 1941, members of the Class of 1942 were commissioned early into the regular force as the 2nd World War reached the country. This situation deprived the class of coming out with their Sword yearbook.

36 years after leaving the Academy, the surviving members of PMA Class 1942 finally received their long- overdue annual. The long wait made their Sword richer: featuring stories of the class before, during and after the war; their individual achievements deeper: honoring the memories of their fallen classmates; and historical: simply because their Sword would go down in history as the lengthiest (in terms of years) yearbook to be published after graduation of a class. The PMA Class 1942 Sword recognizes their sacrifices, courage, integrity and loyalty in their pursuit of peace and freedom.
